On July 23, 2012, after more than three years of planning, 390 United Church Women from each Conference across Canada gathered for a five day celebration at Redeemer College University, Ancaster, Ontario for the National 50th anniversary of United church Women

As a 50th Anniversary project, the National United Church Women chose, through Extra Measures/Partners in Mission, to support the Morogoro Women’s Training Centre in Tanzania, training women from rural areas to be birth attendants. Tanzania has one of the highest Maternal Infant Mortality rates in the world, the goal of the training is to lower these rates by providing a healthier, safer environment for birthing women. The goal was to raise $50,00.00. At the Thursday evening celebration, National United Church President Betty Turcott presented a cheque to Partners in Mission staff Pat Elson and Wendy Gichiru for the amazing amount of $158,072.27.
